A standing seam metal reroof in Dunedin, right off the Gulf where salt air, sun, and high wind are hard on a roof. The homeowners wanted something durable and low maintenance that would look sharp for decades.
The project
The old roof was near the end of its life and starting to leak. With the home so close to the water, corrosion and hurricane season wind were the two things that mattered most, so a coated metal system was the right call.
What we did
- Tore off the old roof and inspected the deck, replacing any soft or damaged wood.
- Installed a new self adhered secondary water barrier rated for Florida heat and wind driven rain.
- Formed and installed concealed fastener standing seam panels engineered for hurricane force wind uplift.
- Flashed every valley, wall, and penetration in corrosion resistant metal for the coastal setting.
The result
A wind rated, energy efficient metal roof that sheds tropical rain, resists salt corrosion, and should outlast several shingle roofs. It also gave the home a clean, modern look from the curb.
